PSERIMOS

In the south Aegean, very close to famous Kos island and the crowds that visit every year Kalymnos island to enjoy the experience of climbing, a very very small island stands until today lonely and untouched from the touristic development of Greece, this is Pserimos. Pserimos, which administratively belongs to Kalymnos, had more than 300 residents in the early 20ies which now are reduced to 30. A place with a total area of 15 square kilometers that spends the winters with quite a few difficulties since it is isolated, but in summers it is transformed.

From May until October, the small ships transfer visitors from the close islands and fill Pserimos’ beaches with people who find a true paradise, which can be walked from one side to another in short time. The few rooms to rent are extremely close to the beach and also the restaurants which lay the tables right on the sand. The most easily accessible beach is right in front of the village Avlakia. Soft sand, transparent waters and a few umbrellas for shade. If you are willing to go a bit far, just follow the path which starts from Avlakia and leads to Roussa, Glistra or Korakia and visit Vathy, a lovely sandy beach with a few pebbles.

Pserimos doesn’t have many spots of historical interest or sights to see. If you are seeking an island like a huge beach where you can swim, enjoy a meal with fresh fish with no transfers, in the evening look at the shells at the local shops and in the evening drink a cold beer, you will never regret your visit to Pserimos. This however doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy hiking in the mountain paths of the island, through routes that will reveal you the wild, raw and pristine landscape of Pserimos. Furthermore, you can rent a boat and visit the small uninhabitant island of Plati, right across Pserimos.
